How Skylark Evolved
Skylark was designed from the ground up to fix actual issues that logistics teams were having—visibility, manual processes, and inefficient driver coordination. What started out as a simple dispatching solution evolved rapidly into a robust, end-to-end logistics platform. Users worked closely with our team to inform daily pain points and translate that into actionable functionality. We added real-time tracking of vehicles, smart load planning, and a driver-centric mobile app.
With communication surfacing as the biggest gap, we added an in-built chat feature that provides instant, uninterrupted communication between drivers and dispatchers. This capability alone has decreased delays and miscommunication on roads by leaps and bounds.
In due course of time, the capabilities of Skylark have evolved to incorporate live dashboard, management of employees, document processing, and deep-level analytics. All features are validated in real-life situations so they function when most needed. Now, Skylark is not just software—it's your logistics control tower, innovating with you.
Challenges
The development team faced a few intricate challenges in the course of the project. Dynamic permission handling was challenging, particularly in terms of extracting and implementing user permissions efficiently in the application. Designing a module for chat extending beyond simple messaging—incorporating dispatch options, search functions, and groups—added depths of complexity. Real-time driver monitoring brought in challenges in managing fine-grained location permissions, location updates without battery drain, and smooth data streaming with low latency. For load planning, moving away from error-inclined Excel-based processes to a real-time planner revealed performance bottlenecks while dealing with large datasets. The original technology stack was not scalable, and a full re-thinking of the architecture was mandated. Making user experience smooth, data exchange precise, and module-to-module interaction required a great deal of planning and repeated problem-solving. Integration issues, responsiveness of the system, and UI/UX uniformity across various tech stacks contributed to the overall complexity.
