NHS UK — a unified intelligent healthcare platform

A single, secure platform giving clinicians and hospital teams real-time patient data and intelligent workflows across more than 120 NHS hospitals.

Introduction

This is a large-scale health system built for the NHS in England, supporting acute care, mental health, community services, care plans, and COVID-19 management across more than 120 hospitals. It unifies multiple clinical services into one secure platform. Built on FHIR-based electronic health record standards, it gives healthcare professionals real-time, hospital-wide access to critical patient data, with intelligent tools that improve both care delivery and operational efficiency.

Built for the moment it matters most

When an NHS trust urgently needed clinical notes back online, our team stood up a working, secure clinical-notes system in three weeks. It's the clearest proof of what we do under real pressure: move fast without dropping the standards that healthcare demands.

  • 120+ hospital systems each with its own legacy formats and data models.
  • FHIR API layer the central translation point that makes every system speak one language.
  • Real-time sync engine keeps patient data consistent across the whole network as it changes.
  • Unified platform core one secure core, protected by role-based access control.
  • Clinical modules patient records, bed management, referrals, care notes, and video consults.

FHIR APIs turn 120+ hospitals' incompatible systems into one real-time, standardised platform.

Challenges

The hardest part was integrating FHIR APIs with the data infrastructure of more than 120 NHS hospitals, each with its own systems and data formats. That meant heavy data mapping, real-time synchronisation across a very large network, and strict adherence to healthcare data-protection and security regulations, because patient data is highly sensitive.

Conclusion

This platform shows what unified, standards-based healthcare software can do at national scale. By building on FHIR, synchronising data across 120+ hospitals in real time, and wrapping it in strong security and an interface clinical staff actually want to use, we turned fragmented systems into one coordinated platform, one that helps clinicians decide faster, coordinate better, and deliver care with fewer delays.
